A total of 30 applications were accepted by the Miss India Guyana Organization after a month of interviews and a process of due diligence. However it was only half of the young ladies of Indian descent were short-listed to compete for the title.
But according to information from the organization after a further process of due diligence, 10 finalists were selected to participate in this year’s Miss India/Guyana pageant.
The finalists were sashed and revealed to the public on Saturday last at the Indian Monument Garden.
The 2017 journey to the title will take the format of pre-judging. This will be characterized by a scored assessment carried out by the organization and the trainers base on the finalists’ personality and behaviour during two months of pageant activities.
Among the activities that the delegates will be involved in are: an interview, talent round, Indian wear and an evening gown segments. The scores from these will determine the top five. After the top five are identified they will have a clean slate and be judged by a question and answer segment which will determine the winner.
The Miss India/Guyana Organization, is not only looking to have a Beauty Ambassador on the international stage but will seek to have a young leader and role model too.
This individual will be one who will be held in high esteem as a public figure, an all-rounder, who can make Guyana proud and build a platform where young women like themselves can come together to fight the many societal ills plaguing the Guyanese society.
Moreover, the pageant is one designed to enhance the leadership skills, interpersonal skills and give a once in a lifetime experience to the delegates even as they are able to build friendship, bonds of sisterhood and be able to represent Guyana at an international level.
