The Competition and Consumer Affairs Commission CCAC is charged with the responsibility of effecting the Consumers Affairs Act, 2011 (CAA), and the Fair Trading Act, 2006 (FTA). In executing the mandate of the Commission, a public awareness campaign, themed “Consumer Empowerment” targeting the general public will be held on Friday, 25th August, and Saturday 26th August, 2017.

This event will be held at the Giftland Mall, Plantation Pattensen, from 3:00 pm to 8:30 pm on Friday 25 and 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm on Saturday,  August 26, 2017.

Knowledge is power, and to educate yourself as a consumer is to empower yourself to make informed choices when transacting any business.  The event is designed to achieve two basic objectives: Drive consumer awareness, equipping them with information of their constitutional rights such as the right to a refund, a receipt, a warranty and pointing them to the right place where they can go for advice and redress; Remind businesses of their obligation to the consumer according to the Consumer Affairs Act (CAA) and their rights as suppliers.
