Guyana Premier, the franchise owner for the Miss Earth Guyana Beauty Pageant has revealed the winners for this year’s “Beauties For A Cause” segment. This year, because of the excellence within the projects, the judges have decided to move forward with two (2) which tied for the top spot. The announcement was made yesterday by Mr. Dave Lalltoo, National Franchise Director for the pageant at Demerara Bakery’s 4th Anniversary celebration, one of the pageant’s official sponsor.
The two winners have secured spots in the top four of the competition and will execute their projects with the aid of a number of environmental agencies in Guyana. The winners are Anita Baker and Xamiera Kippins, whose projects focused on Environmental Beautification and Recycling and Up-cycling respectively. Anita Baker’s project focuses on Environmental Beautification in Liliendaal, “A” Field South Sophia Community, in Georgetown and is designed to have a positive impact on the community by enhancing the playground and beautifying the main road.
Xameira Kippins’ project is named Re-BUILD. Re- BUILD simply means Recycle, Build, Up-cycle and Invest in Lives with Dreams. The Re-BUILD Initiative is one that is aimed at solving
the problem of the improper disposal of non-biodegradable waste through two viable and cost effective strategies: recycling and up-cycling. This will lead to positive impact on the environment, community and self-skills of people. Miss Earth Guyana 2018 coronation will be held on Saturday, 23 June 2018 at the National Cultural Centre.
