The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Community, Family and Resilience Project in Guyana and the Caribbean is providing a grant to support the continuity of the Ministry of Education HIV In-school Youth Educator Programme.
This programme titled “YES” (Youth Educator Safeguarding Our workforce) was launched in 2012 by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the US Peace Corps targeting grades Five and Nine students in schools across Guyana focusing primarily on the intervention of trained youth educators as resource personnel in the execution of HIV/AIDS and Health Education sessions in the classroom.
Moreover, the School Health, Nutrition and HIV/AIDS Unit of the Ministry of Education will tomorrow be conducting a Handover of Equipment and Presentation of Certificates to the 44 Youth Educators at the National Centre for Educational Resource Development (NCERD).
