From the start of the academic year, September 2017, the Zara Group of Companies will be collaborating with the Guyana Police Force to introduce an inaugural scholarship programme. The programme will see scholarships being made available to four full-time prospective students to attend the University of Guyana [UG’]s Turkeyen or Tain campuses.
Two of the scholarships will be available to the public and the remaining two will be offered to the immediate family members of ranks of the Guyana Police Force. This is according to information released Zara Group of Companies.
Senior Vice President of Zara Group of Companies, Mr. Jay Sobhraj said the scholarship is the companies’ way of committing to their corporate social responsibilities.
Each scholarship will span four years and covers 100 percent of the tuition fee at the University of Guyana for that period. The Zara Group said the students are required to maintain a high grade point average (GPA) of 3.0. The deadline for applications is Wednesday, August 23rd, 2017.

The Zara Group of Companies was established approximately 30 years ago, by a Guyanese family. The company was mainly involved in real estate business and managing apartment buildings in New York City. So far, the company has collaborated with several organizations including: the Central Islamic Organization (CIOG) and the Guyana Police Force, in all three counties.
