Guyana gets another grant from Islamic Development Bank

Guyana has inked yet another grant with the Islamic Development Bank [IsDB]. Minister of Finance, Winston Jordan who is currently in Jeddah, Saudia Arabia signed on Guyana’s behalf.

The grant to the tune of US$900,000 is intended to support the Reverse Linksage Project.

The Finance Minister is currently leading a delegation including his colleague Minister of Public Infrastructure, David Patterson in Saudia Arabia.

Earlier this week government inked a US$20 million loan will the IsDB which will go towards supporting Guyana’s Power Utility Upgrade Programme which is in fact a component of the power Company’s Development and Expansion Programme for 2014 to 2021. It incorporates necessary reforms and upgrades to reduce losses, and improve the quality and reliability of electricity supply and will, at the same time help to transform Guyana’s infrastructural landscape, boost the manufacturing sector and improve the quality of life of citizens.
