The Ministry of Natural Resources will continue to continue a number of projects built towards the development of and ‘green’ transformation after a $1.4B was allocated to the forestry and mining sector. Two such projects include the Forest Carbon Partnership Project (FCPP) and the Forest Inventory Study. Both projects are toward the aim of advancing Guyana producing a ‘greener’ and sustainable economy. The project will also facilitate the establishment of the function of the REDD Secretariat and strengthen the Institution and Capacity Building for the National REDD Working Group (NRWG). In addition to continuing the projects, monies will be used purchase other items that will aid in the execution of the project since field activities would have to be conducted. Further, Minister Broome stated that the project is an extensive and robust one since they would have to zone the forest during the execution of the project.
