GTT ends Pinktober activities with spectacular dinner/gala

GTT concluded its month of Pinktober cancer activities with a Dinner/Gala at the Marriott Hotel Guyana where six beautiful souls were honoured. Nicola Shultz, Francine Leitch, Pamela Hinds, Rosaline Clarke, Bonita Insanally and Marilyn Dewar were treated to an evening of elegance and recognition.

Cancer is a disease caused by an uncontrolled division of abnormal cells in a part of the body, or a malignant growth or tumour resulting from such division, cancer can cause persons to feel a sense of hopelessness or depression; that this is the end all of life and nothing good or uplifting can result from such a diagnosis.  But this is far from the truth and this is why GTTcontinues to raise awareness, not only in the month of October, but throughout the year and the one of the main reasons for which the Gala was held.

GTT believes that with better education, awareness and treatment, the nation will have a healthier society; more fathers will be able to go home to their children, more mothers will be strong enough to prepare meals for the children and watch them grow. This is why we are passionate about raising funds for the selfless organizations like Beacon Foundation, Cancer Institute of Guyana, Periwinkle, Guyana Cancer Foundation and the Giving Hope Foundation. “We believe that as we come together to make a difference, these organizations can pool their efforts and change lives one individual at a time,” said GTT Public Relations Officer, Jasmin Harris.

She added, “This success would also be impossible if it wasn’t for our tremendous GTT team working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure Pinktober 2018 far exceeds that of 2017.”

Ultimately, the hope of GTT, she said, is to ensure every person in Guyana is routinely screened – PSAs for men, and pap smears and mammograms for women. This must become routine, as frequent as yearly, as we strive to remove the stigma associated with cancer.

Cancer isn’t the end all; there is life after diagnosis; your story can encourage others– share it – no need to feel as if you are alone; there are many supporting you.

The GTT Pinktober Gala demonstrated the genuineness of this support as the cancer warriors were treated to a night of music, dance, great food and company and Milani Makeup bags from Gizmos and Gadgets.
