2019 is set to be a significant year for the people of Guyana.
According to Finance Minister, Winston Jordan, 2019 will see
preparation for the country’s Golden Jubilee (2020), General and
Regional Elections and, the year preceding the year (2018) of Guyana’s
oil find.
Minister Jordan made the remarks as he presented the country’s fiscal
package for the year 2019.
He assured that government has put measures in place to ensure that
economic growth, expected from the oil find, will benefit all
Guyanese.
The theme of the 2019 National Budget is “Transforming the Economy,
Empowering People, Building Sustainable Communities for Good Life”
The minister also assured that government will not incur national
debts in lieu of the oil find.

The minimum wage has also been raised to sixty-four thousand, two
hundred dollars.
