Guyana’s exciting move into the Oil and Gas sector records another significant step with the historic opening of the law office of Hughes, Fields and Stoby USA PLLC in Houston, Texas. The prestigious local law firm will officially launch its overseas presence in Houston, with an event today Friday September 28th at the Marriott, Guyana, 6:30 p.m.

The Director of Energy, Mark Bynoe, will deliver the welcoming address at the event described by the Managing Partner, C.A. Nigel Hughes, as “the opening of a bridge between the oil capital of the world, Houston, Texas and one of the emerging oil giants of the region, Guyana.” Long before a potential investor even arrives in Guyana, the law offices of Hughes, Fields and Stoby will now be on hand in Houston, Texas to guide clients through what could be a complex process of establishing business relationships in Guyana.

U.S. Partner, Greg Clark, who worked with Occidental Petroleum Company a large Oil and Gas company as that organization’s Legal Manager will lead the Hughes, Fields and Stoby team in Houston.

Mr. Clark has worked for 13 years in the industry as legal counsel based in places such as Qatar and Ecuador. He brings a history of understanding and depth of knowledge to what will be a unique and welcomed resource. The opening of the Hughes, Fields and Stoby office in Houston with business protocol firm AccessPoint, is indeed a bookmark moment in the development of the energy sector in Guyana and those who seek to have their investment interests best represented here. The preparation for these “New Horizons” began a year ago with the collaboration between Hughes, Fields and Stoby and the global law firm of Shearman and Sterling.
