The Government is on a mission to provide e-services to the county of Berbice. In doing so, they are set to use fibre optic cables belonging to GPL that are already established on the coast and connects Demerara to Berbice.
The National Data Management Authority (NDMA), restructured by the Government of Guyana within the Ministry of Public Telecommunications is a company devoted to implementing the vision of the eGovernance program. The program’s goals are to assist in relations between the government of Guyana and citizens, public management as well as modifying the distribution of public services. The NDMA yesterday, sent invitations to contractors to bid for the, “Interconnect to GPL Fibre along the Eastern Corridor and Delivery of Fibre Connectivity to New Amsterdam”. They disclosed that the GPL transmission lines were commisioned early in the year 2015 and that the closing date for bids is the 11th December, 2018. The lines when affixed will emit data and begin from West Demerara and run along the coast connecting to Berbice.
